Reason For Bolivia VS Argentina Betting Tips

Even though Bolivia are struggling down in 9th place and have no chance of qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, it is not a foregone conclusion that Argentina will win this match. They’ve struggled badly at altitude in La Paz in recent years and Diego Maradona’s side were famously hammered 6-1 here eight years ago with a young Leo Messi in the side. Bolivia have perhaps regressed since then but there is still real potential for goals at both ends in this match.

Argentina didn’t play well against Chile last week and were fortunate to come away with a 1-0 win, having been camped in their own half for much of the game. It was a crucial victory though and they could move up to 2nd in the standings if they can win this match. With the likes of Messi, Aguero, and Di Maria in their ranks, it’s very hard to see them not creating goal-scoring opportunities against a poor Bolivian defence, so an away goal at some point should be virtually guaranteed. Backing Messi to score anytime could be worth a punt, with the Barcelona man finding international form on a more consistent basis these days and he was the scorer of the only goal against Chile last time out.

Bolivia have conceded 2.46 goals per game during this qualifying campaign and their only official clean sheet was against Paraguay at home, although they did have two results awarded as 3-0 defeats after fielding an illegible player, which effectively ended their slim hopes of qualifying. Home advantage in the dizzy heights of La Paz does give them a real chance though and they have been scoring goals at home. They’ve scored twice or more in 4 of their last 5 home qualifiers and have netted 1.83 goals per game at home during this campaign (including the 2 they scored against Peru before it was awarded as a 3-0 defeat).

Argentina have conceded twice or more in all of their last 3 away qualifiers and that includes trips to struggling Peru and Venezuela. The altitude factor makes this a tougher game than those ones and there should be a goal or two in this for Bolivia, so backing Both Teams to Score at 3/4 looks to offer value.

Head To Head

Argentina won 2-0 when the sides met earlier in the campaign and 3-0 at Copa America last summer. However they’ve only won on 1 of their 4 visits to Bolivia for World Cup qualifiers in the 21st Century, losing one of those games 6-1.
