Austria to win to nil
Reason For Austria VS Finland Betting Tips
Austria managed to end their winless streak on Friday, although a 2-0 win over Moldova can hardly be considered a massive result for them. Still, it’s better than their defeats to Serbia and Republic of Ireland in between draws against Wales and Slovakia.
They have now won two, drawn three, and lost five of their last ten outings, including their dismal performance at Euro 2016 and some all round poor showings in the World Cup qualifiers. This poor run of form has left them 4th in their group, four points adrift of leaders Serbia and 2nd placed Republic of Ireland and only five points above the lowly Georgia.
Finland aren’t exactly top quality opposition for them though. The visitors lost 2-0 at Turkey on Friday to make it one win, two draws, and 11 defeats in their last 14 outings. This leaves them second from bottom in their World Cup qualifying group having picked up just one point from their five games.
They are already seven points adrift of 4th placed Turkey and are level on points with Kosovo, who only started playing competitive football this campaign. Considering they managed 12 points in their Euro 2016 qualifying group, this can be seen as quite a large step backwards.
Away from home they have lost eight of their last 11, and whilst Austria have been poor in front of their own fans recently they will feel confident of a result here. The hosts have won five, drawn two, and lost four of their last 11 home games.
They have kept a clean sheet in four of these games, and they’re facing a Finland side who have failed to score in seven of their last 11 away matches. This makes odds of 1/1 for Austria to Win to Nil look decent value for money, so I’m backing that alongside a 2-0 correct score predictions at 9/2.
