Brazil to win to nil

Reason For Brazil VS Paraguay Betting Tips

Brazil all but booked their place in Russia with an emphatic 4-1 win away to nearest rivals Uruguay on Thursday night. Former Spurs midfielder Paulinho was the unlikely hero with a hat-trick in the game. If Brazil win this they could become the first team to qualify for the 2018 World Cup on Tuesday night, although they’d be reliant on a few other results going their way for that to be the case. On current form, it’s hard to see anything other than a comfortable home win.

Paraguay have put themselves back in the qualification picture with a crucial 2-1 home win over Ecuador last week. Overall though they’ve been quite inconsistent during this campaign and have conceded 4 goals in 2 of their last 6 qualifiers, which suggests free-scoring Brazil will be able to exploit their defensive weaknesses. They also haven’t been scoring many goals on their travels. Paraguay have netted only 2 in their last 7 internationals outside of their own country and they’ve lost 4 of those matches to nil.

Brazil by comparison have looked very strong at both ends of the pitch during this campaign. They boast the best defensive record in South American World Cup qualifying with just 0.77 goals per game conceded. Meanwhile they also boast the best goal-scoring record by some margin with 2.46 goals per game scored. The ghosts of their 7-1 defeat to Germany in the last World Cup may not be totally banished until they deliver the goods at a major tournament but the signs are certainly good and they should have too much all-round quality for Paraguay here.

Given what he did last week, it could be worth having a flutter on Paulinho to score anytime. His goals per game ratio for Brazil is roughly 1 in 4 and with Casemiro in the side, he has real licence to get forward from midfield into advanced positions and is likely to be threat again here.

Casemiro does a good job of protecting this Brazilian back four, which is much more solid these days and Paraguay will struggle to create much here, so backing Brazil to Win to Nil at 5/6 looks to offer value.

Head To Head

Brazil staged a late comeback to draw 2-2 in Paraguay earlier in the campaign. That was the first meeting since Paraguay knocked Brazil out of the 2015 Copa America on penalties. Brazil have won all 3 home World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay this century though.

Brazil VS Paraguay Stats

Paraguay have the 2nd worst goalscoring record in South American World Cup qualifying, averaging just 1 goal per game. Brazil have won their last 8 internationals, conceding only 2 goals in the process.
