Full Time: 1 - 0

Handicap Tip: Iran -1

Reason For Iran VS China Betting Tips

Iran’s hopes of topping their World Cup qualifying group received quite a large boost on Thursday as they beat Qatar 1-0 away from home, and simultaneously saw 2nd placed South Korea beaten at the hands of China. This sends the hosts four points clear at the top of the group with just four games left to play, but now they have to avoid the same fate as South Korea when they face China.

Thursday’s victory followed on from a 1-0 loss at home to Iraq last weekend, and they have now won 12, drawn two, and lost one of their last 15 games in all competitions. At home they have won nine, drawn one, and lost one of their last 11, although they haven’t lost a competitive fixture at home since a 1-0 loss to Uzbekistan back in 2012.

China’s victory on Thursday ends their disappointing winless streak, although they did manage a penalty win over Croatia in January. In normal time they had failed to win their last nine matches on the bounce though.

This leaves them in a very poor position in their World Cup qualifiers, holding on to just five points from their opening six games and leaving them second from bottom in the table, some five points adrift of 2nd placed South Korea.

China’s victory last week was on home soil too. Away from home they have lost three of their last four matches, including a 2-0 loss to Uzbekistan in their last away game. They have failed to score in three of these games and come up against an Iran side who have kept seven clean sheets in their last 11 home games.

I can’t look beyond an Iran win here. They look in good shape at the moment and have an excellent record at home. They are facing a China side who really struggle to score goals on the road, so odds of 2.025 for an Iran -1.0 Asian Handicap win look good value. I’m backing that alongside a 2-0 correct score predictions at 5/1.

Head To Head

Iran have won three, drawn three, and lost one of their last seven meetings with China.

Iran VS China Stats

Iran have won 82% of their last 11 home games, with 73% of them being by more than a single goal margin.
