Reason For Wolfsburg VS Ingolstadt Betting Tips
Things were looking up for Wolfsburg under interim coach Andries Jonker, who guided the Wolves to four consecutive matches unbeaten (W2 D2), before matches at home to Freiburg and away to Schalke 04 over the past ten days -Wolfsburg head into this off the back of consecutive defeats. Though there’s been a notable improvement in play-style and determination since Jonker took over, Wolfsburg’s 30 point tally remains one of their worst ever totals at this stage in the campaign and sees them just two points above automatic relegation in one of the tightest relegation battles in years.
FC Ingolstadt have given themselves a lease of life over the last ten days, with Sunday’s thrilling 3-2 win away to bottom of the table Darmstadt 98 marking their third consecutive win. Coach Maik Walpurgis’ record of 26 points from 18 games is miles better than predecessor Markus Kauczinski (2 points in 10 matches), and he’s helped bring the South Germans just one point from safety.
Wolfsburg are the favourites here at 1/1, but we feel that the visitors represent the value here. Hence, backing Ingolstadt or draw at 5/6 is the best bet here for the following reasons: Wolfsburg may have found some inspiration from a managerial change at the start of March, but their performances have faltered and stagnated in recent weeks. Wolfsburg’s 4-1 defeat away to Schalke 04 last weekend also shows exactly how crucial absences (see team news) have left them struggling for defensive form. Meanwhile, Ingolstadt’s recent performances couldn’t be further from those of Wolfsburg. Ingolstadt showed plenty of fight trailing 2-1 behind to Darmstadt 98 last weekend, ultimately leaving with three points in a 3-2 win, and the Bavarians were even considered “unlucky” in their 1-0 defeat away to Borussia Dortmund before their three match win-streak began.
Wolfsburg haven’t found their feet at all this season, winning just eight of their 28 Bundesliga matches so far (29%), but it’s been at the Volkswagen Arena in particular where the Wolves have struggled the most, losing or drawing in 71% of their matches in front of the home fans – the joint worst record in the Bundesliga.
Regarding a correct score bet, a defeat for Wolfsburg on Saturday would put them behind visitors Ingolstadt and potentially see them fall within the relegation zone if other results go against them, so we could see the hosts come out on the defensive. Ingolstadt’s newfound scoring form (8 goals in three matches) means we should expect a goal from them, but with clean sheets in just 14% of their matches on the road, a goal for Wolfsburg shouldn’t be out of the question either. As such, a 1-1 draw at 5/1 with bet365 seems about right here.
