Reason For Eintracht Frankfurt VS Arminia Bielefeld Betting Tips
Niko Kovac’s Frankfurt have undergone a complete overhaul since barely surviving the relegation play-off last season. Though Frankfurt head into DFB Pokal quarter final off the back of three consecutive Bundesliga defeats to nil (a 3-0 defeat away to Bayer Leverkusen, a shock 2-0 defeat at home to Ingolstadt, and a 2-0 defeat away to Hertha), the Eagles remain comfortably within the top 6 and should be confident to progress to the semi finals against Bundesliga 2 side Arminia Bielefeld.
Bielefeld find themselves in the midst of a tight relegation battle in the German 2nd tier, and it’s their form on the road which has caused the most concern – Arminia hold the worst away record in the Bundesliga 2 (D3 L8). Bielefeld scraped through the round of 16 away to 4th tier side Astoria Walldorf on penalties and with survival in the Bundesliga 2 a priority, a deep cup run may be something they consider less worth fighting for this Tuesday.
Eintracht Frankfurt are the favourites here at 4/9. Even though this price is somewhat short, the hosts are likely decent value to back, given Arminia’s aforementioned form on the road. However, we find better value backing “Number of Goals in Match – 2 or 3” at 20/21 for the following reasons: Frankfurt have the joint 2nd best defense in the Bundesliga (22 goals conceded), but also the weakest offense in the top 9 (25 goals scored). Consequently, results at the Commerzbank Arena very rarely have “huge” scorelines – 2 or 3 goals have been scored in four of Frankfurt’s last five home matches (80%). Meanwhile, though Bielefeld have seen 2 or 3 goals scored in a lower number of their last five matches (60%), this value is somewhat skewed as Arminia are much more capable of scoring against Bundesliga 2 competition. Bielefeld have a much weaker offense than top tier sides and seeing as the visitors may be more concerned with their league position than cup progression, a clean sheet for the hosts – something they’ve managed in 50% of home matches against top tier sides – seems very likely.
Regarding a correct score bet, Frankfurt have scored exactly 2 goals in 40% of their home matches, while Bielefeld have conceded 2 or 3 goals in 6 of their last 7 competitive away matches (86%). Hence, we feel that a Frankfurt 2-0 win at 11/2 is a solid shout here.
