Reason For Hertha Berlin VS Eintracht Frankfurt Betting Tips
Hertha’s slow start to the new year saw them knocked out of the DFB Pokal in the round of 16 stage and take just three points from their first four matches of 2017 (W1 L3). Berlin may be just one point within the top 6, but Pal Dardai’s side look to have found some stability, following their 1-1 draw at home to league leaders Bayern Munich last time out – a point which should no doubt prove crucial in their pursuit for a European qualification spot.
Niko Kovac’s Frankfurt have undergone a complete overhaul since barely surviving the relegation playoffs last season. Though Frankfurt head into this off the back of two consecutive Bundesliga defeats (a 3-0 defeat away to Bayer Leverkusen and a shock 2-0 defeat at home to Ingolstadt), the Eagles remain comfortably within the top 6.
Hertha Berlin are the favourites here at 21/20 with bet365 and we feel there’s some decent value in backing the hosts for the following reasons: first and foremost, the Berliners hold the best home record of any side in the German top tier, winning 80% of their matches at the Olympiastadion so far (W8 D1 L1). Though Frankfurt hold one of the better away records in the Bundesliga, the Eagles have still lost 45% of their matches on the road (W4 D2 L5). Notably, Frankfurt’s away form has slipped in recent weeks, with three defeats “to nil” from their last four matches on the road. Considering that Hertha held reigning champions Bayern Munich to a 1-1 draw last weekend, while Frankfurt lost to nil against relegation struggling Ingolstadt, Pal Dardai’s Hertha should see this as a prime opportunity to continue their strong home run.
Hertha also have a top track record against the Eagles on their own turf – over all 28 matches at home to Frankfurt, Hertha have won a huge 19 of these (68%). Not to mention that Frankfurt are riddled with potential absences due to injury or suspensions (see team news).
Regarding a correct score bet, Hertha’s strengths stem from the Olympiastadion – the Berliners have kept clean sheets in 50% of their home matches and have averaged 1.7 goals scored per match. Frankfurt, meanwhile, hold the joint weakest offense in the top 10 and have failed to score in 55% of their away matches so far this season. Against a weakened Frankfurt side that struggle on the road, we feel Hertha to win 2-0 at 15/2 offers some decent potential here.
