Reason For Marseille VS Monaco Betting Tips
Marseille’s inconsistent form continued on Sunday as they were battered 5-1 at home to PSG in Ligue 1 to make it four wins and five defeats from their last nine outings in all competitions.
They have improved drastically after last season’s shambolic performance, but their failure to build up a good run of form has left them 7th in Ligue 1. They have also been on the end of quite a few heavy defeats from the top teams in the division.
One of these came back in the middle of January at the Stade Velodrome as Monaco hammered them 4-1 in the league, which was swiftly followed by a 3-1 loss at Lyon. Their defence simply seems to collapse under pressure from top teams.
Monaco are certainly proving to be a top team this season. They sit three points clear at the top of Ligue 1 after their 2-1 win over Guingamp on Saturday. This followed from their 5-3 defeat at Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League clash, and whilst it does go down as a defeat their attacking play in that game was spectacular.
That is their only defeat in their last 14 matches in all competitions, with ten of them ending in victory. Away from home they have won five, drawn three, and lost just one of their last nine game.
During this time they have scored an impressive 23 goals and conceded 15 at the other end to make for some very entertaining football. Radamel Falcao has his fair share of goals during this period, and his goals against Manchester City take his tally to 22 in 28 appearances in all competitions this season. This makes him an excellent choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions at 11/10.
In terms of the overall result I’m expecting plenty of goals. Seven of Monaco’s last ten trips away have resulted in at least three goals being scored, including the 54 extra time win against Chambly in this competition. Marseille have seen high scoring games in five of their last eight at home and have proven defensively vulnerable against the top attacking teams.
Monaco have scored at least two goals in six of their last nine away from home as well, and with Marseille struggling at the back odds of 6/5 for Monaco Over 1.5 Team Goals look very good value for money. I’m backing that along with a 3-1 win for the visitors at 20/1 for my correct score predictions.
