Reason For Melbourne Victory VS Adelaide United Betting Tips
Melbourne Victory managed to get back on track last weekend with a 3-0 win at Central Coast Mariners, and with Hyundai A-League leaders Sydney FC losing for the first time this season, this lifts the hosts to within eight points of the top spot. With just seven games in the regular season left to play, it is unlikely that Melbourne Victory can steal the Premiership title, but it’s not an impossibility yet.
That victory made it two wins, one draw, and three defeats from Melbourne Victory’s last six matches, but at home they have won seven of their last nine A-League games and lost just once. They will feel extremely confident coming into this match, and not just because of their own excellent form at the AAMI Park.
Their opponents, Adelaide United, are the current A-League champions, but this season they aren’t playing like it. They managed to pick up just their 3rd win of the league season last weekend against Newcastle Jets, but they remain rock bottom of the table with just 14 points from their 20 games so far. 9th placed Central Coast Mariners are five points clear of them, and any hope of Adelaide United defending their Championship in the playoffs has all but disappeared.
They couldn’t follow that weekend success up in midweek as they faced Gamba Osaka in the Asian Champions League either, losing that game 3-0 at home, to make it four defeats from their last six games in all competitions.
Away from home things don’t get any better for them either. They are winless on the road this season and have lost six of their nine matches in the A-League. Two of their three draws during this period have come against sides outside the top six, and they have conceded 16 goals on their travels this season.
Melbourne Victory have scored 27 goals at home this season as well, including 14 in their last five matches. Four of these have come courtesy of Marco Rojas. The midfielder has scored 11 league goals this term and has also picked up three assists in these last five home games. Nine of his 11 league goals have come on home soil, so he looks an excellent choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions at 1/1.
Five of Melbourne Victory’s seven home wins have been by more than a single goal margin, whilst Adelaide United have been comfortably beaten in half their defeats away from home this season. This makes odds of 2.200 for a Melbourne Victory -1.5 Asian Handicap win look good value for money, so I’m backing that along with a 4-1 correct score predictions at 18/1.
