Reason For Wolves VS Chelsea Betting Tips
Wolves managed to defy all the odds in the last round of the FA Cup when they visited Anfield and came away with a 2-1 victory under their belts. They followed that with a 3-1 win at Barnsley, but since then things have gone somewhat downhill for the Molineux outfit.
Their 1-0 loss at home to Wigan on Tuesday made it three defeats on the trot for them, and even with their victory at Anfield, they have only won four of their last ten games in all competitions. This leaves them in a rather disappointing 18th place in the Championship, and they are only six points clear of the relegation zone at the moment.
Wolves’ main issue is their form at Molineux. They have only won two of their last ten matches there and have lost seven of them. Coming into a game against Chelsea on the back of three consecutive defeats definitely isn’t the best of shape to be in, and even though they have knocked out two Premier League sides already in the FA Cup, they can’t be feeling particularly confident about making it three.
Chelsea failed to increase their lead at the top of the Premier League last weekend as they drew 1-1 with the incredibly difficult to beat Burnley at Turf Moor. This extends their unbeaten streak to seven matches though, and they have still won 15 of their last 18 matches in all competitions.
Antonio Conte has opted to rotate a bit in the FA Cup, but it has by no means affected them adversely. They have scored four goals in both of their FA Cup ties so far, with the backup brigade performing as well as any other team in the Premier League.
Willian has been the one to watch in both of these games. The Brazilian has been employed as one of their main attacking outlets in the previous two ties and has found the net in both of them, so backing him at 15/8 for our anytime goalscorer predictions looks a good choice, against a Wolves side who have shipped 18 goals in their last ten home matches.
I can see this one being a fairly high scoring affair, and a lot of the action is likely to come in the second half. Chelsea don’t let up even when the game has been won, and Wolves’ defence has been awful at times recently. Chelsea score over 60% of their goals in the second half, and with Wolves bagging 66% of their goals in the second half too, any goal for them is likely to come after the break. This makes odds of 5/6 for Over 1.5 Second Half Goals look a good value backing, so I’m going for that alongside a 3-0 win for Chelsea at 9/1.
