Reason For WS Wanderers VS Sydney FC Betting Tips
Western Sydney Wanderers come into this cross-city derby in poor shape after their dismal showing last weekend. They lost 2-0 at home to 9th placed Central Coast Mariners – A team renowned for being awful away from home.
Prior to that the hosts had beaten Wellington Phoenix away from home, but their record of two wins, four draws, and four defeats in their last ten outings is nothing to shout from the rooftops about.
It does leave them in with a shout of challenging for the Hyundai A-League playoffs though, largely thanks to the surrounding teams’ failures rather than their own good form. They have picked up 21 points from their 19 games so far, putting them just behind 6th placed Newcastle Jets on goal difference. However, with Perth Glory six points clear in 5th it means there are now four teams challenging for one playoff spot.
Sydney FC are going to have no problem whatsoever making it into the playoffs. In fact, with nine games left of the regular season they only need two more points to guarantee themselves a top six finish, although they have their eyes set on a bigger prize. They are currently top of the table with a commanding 11 point lead over Melbourne Victory, and they have the A-League Premiership title well within their sights.
Last time out they comfortably beat Wellington Phoenix 3-1 at home, to extend their unbeaten run to 11 games in all competitions. That defeat came against Melbourne City in the FFA Cup Final, and that is their only loss of the season so far, leaving them unbeaten in the league.
Eight of the 11 games since that final loss have been victories, and away from home they have a ridiculous record of 12 wins from their 14 games in all competitions. In the A-League they have dropped just four points on the road this season.
This is down to a deadly quadruplet of attacking talent, with Alex Brosque, Bobo, Milos Ninkovic, and Filip Holosko having 31 league goals between them. Brosque, Holosko, and Bobo all have three goals in their last five away matches, so taking the odds into consideration the best value for our anytime goalscorer predictions is Filip Holosko to score at 11/5.
As far as the overall result goes, it’s hard to look beyond the visitors here. They have a phenomenal away record and have already beaten their city rivals 4-0 away from home this season, making odds of 1/1 for a Sydney FC Win look very good value for money. I’m also going for a 2-0 correct score predictions at 9/1.
